See below.

This is most likely from a dedication by the Council prytany of Akamantis (for this type of inscription see IG I³ 515, with notes). Agora XV, following the first editor, dated it on the basis of lettering, interpuncts, orthography and prosopography to ca. 340 BC. It seems, however that it should be dated specifically to 338/7 BC (see further below).

For more detailed references to the persons named in this inscription see Athenian Onomasticon. Prospalta. For this deme's bouleutic quota of 5 see Agora XV 42 and Agora XV 43. The names Theophantos (4), Lysanias (5) and Archinos (6) are attested in the deme. Thorikos. The bouleutic quota of this deme is attested as 5 in Agora XV 42. There are 6 men listed here, but variations of 1 in the number of councillors listed for a deme on different inscriptions are not unknown at this period, and can be variously explained. Smikythos son of Epiteles (8) is from a known wealthy family of Thorikos; Thoukritides son of Kallias of Thorikos (9) was secretary to the epistatai of Eleusis 332/1-329/8 BC and dedicator to Zeus Philios with a Kallias after mid-iv BC. Several men in Thorikos at this period bore the common name Dionysios (10). The other three Thorikians (11, 12, 13) are unknown. Poros. The bouleutic quota of 3 implied here is as in Agora XV 42. The (common) name Nikostratos is attested in this deme. [2] Philippos son of Antiphemos of Eiresidai (18) is the only man named with demotic, and occupies the position at the end of the inscription usually filled by a secretary or other official of the Council. He was restored by Stamires, Meritt and Traill as the secretary of the Council and People (for this official see Agora XV 43, with notes, he is on prytany dedications at IG II³ 4, 48, IG II³ 4, 75 etc.), but since Philippos was prytany secretary, otherwise known as secretary to the Council (on this post, which was different from the secretary of the Council and People, see Agora XV 43, with notes) in 338/7 BC (IG II³ 1, 316, IG II³ 1, 317), it seems that it was in this capacity that he was named here, and the inscription should accordingly be dated to that year. For the naming of the secretary of the Council/prytany secretary on dedications by the Council or its prytanies cf. IG II³ 1, 360, 29; IG II³ 1, 306, 34-35; Agora XV 43, 227; IG II³ 4, 52?, Agora XV 23?. The decision to name the secretary to the Council/prytany secretary in this case might have been motivated by his membership of a deme of Akamantis, Eiresidai (though that was in itself coincidental; this secretary was not a member of the Council at this period).
