[1] This relief plaque was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). The relief shows two worshippers at left, a seated doctor with a sick man lying in bed in the centre, and Asklepios standing at right with his hand outstretched over the sick man’s head, a neat illustration of how medical treatment and divine intervention were considered to operate in tandem to heal the sick (on the relationship between doctors and the cult of Asklepios, see IG II³ 1, 914; on the relief see N. Kaltsas, Sculpture in the National Archaeological Museum, 2002, no. 473). The priest is probably identical with the prytany treasurer honoured in Agora XV 278 of 47/6 or 45/4 BC.
