[1] This is the upper left corner of a relief plaque. The surviving portion of the relief shows the head of a seated Asklepios at left, the upper part of Hygieia at centre, and a gigantic eye hovering at right, perhaps intended as a votive offering attached to a temple wall (F. T. van Straten in H. S. Versnel, Faith, Hope and Worship, 1981, 106, cf. NAMA 2544B). It was probably dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis, on which see IG II³ 4, 665. The dedicator’s name means ‘Laconian woman,’ perhaps indicating that her family had Spartan connections.
