[1] This is the lower right corner of a relief, which was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). The surviving portion of the relief shows a sick person lying in bed at left, while a bearded doctor holds his head and Asklepios stands beside him at right, a striking illustration of the symbiotic relationship between doctors and the cult of Asklepios (see IG II³ 1, 914 with notes).
