[1] This statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis. The dedicator, Leukon, was priest of Asklepios in either 349/8 or 319/8 BC (S. Aleshire, The Athenian Asklepieion, 1991, 371) and was a Councillor around 325 BC (Agora XV 52, l. 20). On the Asklepieion and its inscriptions, see IG II³ 4, 665. There are traces of a cutting on top for the statue.
