[1] This inscription is on the broad upper portion of a rectangular pillar dedicated to Asklepios, which would have originally supported a votive monument and stood in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Athenian Acropolis. The dedicator is not identifiable. His name has been intentionally defaced with a series of vertical lines; it is unclear why. The fragmentary l. 3 is smaller than ll. 1-2 and may have given the name of the sculptor responsible for the votive that once stood on top of the pillar (K. Hallof in IG II³ 4).
