[1] This inscription is on the abacus of a column dedicated to Asklepios, which would have originally stood in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Athenian Acropolis. It appears to have been dedicated by the same man as IG II³ 4, 696 (A.P. Matthaiou, in P. Valavanis (ed.), Ταξιδεύοντας στην Κλασική Ελλάδα, 2011, 189-90 no. 1 = SEG 61.170), perhaps Leodamas son of Erasistratos of Acharnai, a student of Isokrates, who is mentioned critically by Demosthenes, Aischines, and Aristotle and belonged to a wealthy family attested from the mid-fifth until the late fourth century BC (J. K. Davies, Athenian Propertied Families, 1971, 521-524). On the Asklepieion and its inscriptions, see IG II³ 4, 665.
