[1] This very fragmentary inscription honours one of the Flavian emperors: Vespasian (r. 69-79 AD), Titus (r. 79-81 AD), or Domitian (r. 81-96 AD), probably Vespasian. Other monuments for the Flavian dynasty at Athens include an altar for Vespasian (Agora XVIII 284), an altar for Vespasian and Titus (AIO 3839), a statue base repurposed for the future emperor Domitian during his father's reign (IG II² 3283), and a statue of Titus on Delos (I Délos 1595). As emperor, Domitian also served as eponymous archon in absentia in 87/8 AD (IG II² 1996; F.Delphes III.2 65; Philostratos, Life of Apollonios 8.16) and is identified with Zeus Eleutherios in IG II² 1996.
