[1] This cylindrical altar was dedicated to the emperor Vespasian, r. 69-79. For another altar dedicated to him (along with several predecessors and his successor, Titus), see AIO 3839. On the – relatively muted – commemoration of the Flavians at Athens, see Agora XVIII 259 with notes. The top of the altar has been hollowed out at a later stage for some secondary use.
