[1] Textual note: AIO follows the restorations of S.V. Tracy in S. V. Tracy and C. Habicht, Hesperia 60, 1991, 211, proposed on prosopographic grounds, where IG had [Ε]ὔθοινος | [Εὐ]δωρίδ̣ου | … ("[E]uthoinos, son of [Eu]dorides …").

This uppermost section of a large stele preserves only the elaborate and deeply carved acanthus crowning and parts of two lines of an inscription at the top of the shaft. The sculpture is dated to the 2^nd cent. BC (see Hildebrandt, Namenstelen), but the inscription was added later around the 1st cent. AD, either during reuse of the monument or as an addition to this (originally) tall Namenstele (name stele), since this type of monument often carried generations of names of those buried in a family grave plot. Earlier generations of Euthoinos’ family included one Seleukos, who served as a hieropoios in the 2^nd cent. BC (IG II² 1938, l. 53) and his father Theodorides, who made a donation (IG II² 2332, ll. 19-24).

This inscription was excavated along with a group of funerary monuments northeast of the Kerameikos site (see IG II² 5889 with notes).
