[1] Textual note. Our translation follows the IG text, except that, following Friend's reading of his T9, l. 49, the father's name of the kosmetes at l. 10 is restored as Mnesistratos rather than Ainesistratos.

For ephebic dedications beginning in 334/3 BC see IG II³ 4, 329 with notes. The archon of 333/2 BC is wholly restored (l. 5), but is suggested by SEG 21.513 = Friend T9, an ephebic dedication with decrees which dates to 333/2 BC and has the same kosmetes and generals. [2] On Konon and Sophilos (ll. 8-9) see IG II³ 4, 329, n. 2. The sophronistes (l. 6) was the adult controller of a tribal contingent of ephebes, the kosmetes (l. 10) the overall ephebic superintendent; the four men named after him (ll. 10-12) were perhaps didaskaloi, instructors; the lochagoi (ll. 13-17) were ephebes who served as captains of smaller companies of their fellow ephebes, cf. IG II³ 4, 337 ll. 7-10.
