Archestrate, daughter of Euripides of Pallene,^[1] dedicated (this herm) to Hera, (5) being full of joy (gēthomenē).^[2]

[1] This dedicator is otherwise unknown. The name Archestrate is attested 4 times in Athenaion Onomasticon, all from the fourth century BC (one perhaps third). [2] The final adjective (l.5) refers back to Archestrate. J. Curbera (in IG II³) proposes that it originates from the verb ‘to rejoice, be complete’ (γηθέω or γήθω) and signals the older age or married status of Archestrate.
