[1] The inscription derives from the Asklepieion at Eleusis, on which see IG II³ 4, 891 with note. Epikrates probably also dedicated IG II³ 4, 945 to Apollo. The statue, which slots into a rectangular cutting on top of the base, is still preserved, although the right hand and head are lost, and depicts Asklepios wearing a himation, with his left hand on his hip. The dedicator or a relative appears in the building contract for the South Stoa at Eleusis (I Eleusis 141, l. 22) and other members of his family were prominent in the late fourth and early third centuries BC (J. S. Traill, Hesperia 47, 1978, 92).
