Dedication to Asklepios and Hygieia

IG II³ 4 788 Date: 3rd-1st century BC

. . . (dedicated this statue of) Aristodemos son of Menexenos of Skambonidai (?) to Asklepios and Hygieia, (5) as a thank-offering (charistērion), in the priesthood of Phanokles of Kephisia.^[1]

[1] This statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). It was seen by the epigrapher Kyriakos Pittakes in the church of Panagia Vlastiki, north of the Acropolis, sometime before 1835 and has not been seen since (G. Malouchou-Dailiana, Ἀρχεῖον τῶν Μνημείων τῶν Ἀθηνῶν καὶ τῆς Ἀττικῆς III p. 92 no. 428). L. 6 indicates that it dates from the period when the priests were still annual, i.e. before the end of the first century BC.
