[(This statue of) Tiberius Claudius Caesar] Augustus Germanicus, pontifex maximus, tribunician power, consul twice, proclaimed emperor three times (42 AD), [father of the fatherland] (was erected by) the Council of the Areopagos and the Council of the Six Hundred and the People, for their saviour and benefactor, with the work being managed by Tiberius Claudius Novius of Oion, herald of the Areopagos Council and competition-director (agōnothetou) and priest of Delian Apollo.^[1]

[1] This fragmentary base supported a statue of the emperor Claudius, on whom see IG II² 3268 with notes. It was erected by Novius, on whom see IG II² 1990 with notes. The date is supplied by Claudius' titulature. T. L. Shear Jr. Hesperia 50, 1981, 367 suggests that "the work" in l. 4 is the construction of the great staircase leading up to the Acropolis (also mentioned in IG II² 2292, ll. 49-51 and 2297, ll. 11-12). It seems much more natural to interpret it as a reference to the statue itself. No information has been published on the findspot of the base.
