Gods. The Athenians stationed at Eleusis, Panakton and Phyle, and those citizens residing at Eleusis decided; Timan[dros son of Pheido?]krates of Kothokidai (5) proposed: since Thrasykles continues to display all love of honour (philotimian) towards the Athenian People, meeting many of their needs, . . . son . . . . . . of the – in every . . . . . . and when elected . . . (10) and when elected – for the year of –’s archonship . . . . . . ^[1]

[1] This inscription is a work of Tracy’s “Cutter of IG II² 1706”, 229/8-ca. 203 BC (for the dates see Tracy, ALC, 44-54, with Horos 26-31, 2014-2019, 45). Joint decrees of the deme Eleusis and soldiers stationed there had been inscribed since late-iv BC (see I Eleusis 95, with notes) and I Eleusis 191 was apparently passed jointly by the deme and Athenian residents there. This is the first (and only) decree of Athenian residents at Eleusis and soldiers stationed there, not formally involving the deme. The honorand was presumably a general (Clinton).

In iii BC military units stationed at the border fortresses of Eleusis, Panakton, and Phyle were commanded by the general based at Eleusis and commonly appear together in inscriptions.
