[1] This statue base was probably erected in the sanctuary of Asklepios on the south slope of the Acropolis, where it was found (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665 with notes). It honours Herodes Atticus, who was high priest of the Imperial cult at Athens and held the Roman consulship in 143 AD (on him, see AIUK 11 (Ashmolean), no. 15 with notes).
