[1] This relief in the British Museum is said to have been aquired by Captain R. C. Turner, a sailor working in the Levant, and was perhaps found in Boiotian Thebes, but this information may not be correct. Glykylla, sitting on a stool (diphros) and resting her feet on a footstool, takes something (jewellery?) from a lidded box held by a female slave. The work is generally considered to be Attic or by a highly Atticising Boeotian sculptor, but the name is not attested at Athens, nor indeed anywhere else.
