[1] This ‘topos-inscription’ roughly carved on a column from the south stoa of the Roman Agora, served to assign the location to one Epiphanes, perhaps a merchant. On ‘topos-inscriptions,’ see SEG 62.144 with notes and on the Roman Agora in general, see IG II³ 4, 12 with notes.

The formula ‘with good fortune’ is probably just an invocation of good luck, like SEG 62.144, but the phrase is often associated with civic decision making and might indicate that the assignment of the location to Epiphanes had been authorised by civic authorities (such references to civic authorisation in ‘topos-inscriptions’ are rare, but see I Iasos 261, I Magnesia 239, I Miletos 208, I Smyrna 713, 715 and C. Saliou, ZPE 202, 2017, 144-45).
