[1] This extremely fragmentary inscription appears to be an inscribed letter from Commodus to the Athenians. The small amount of text that survives could indicate that the text dealt with a monthly religious celebration including a distribution to Councillors and others (cf. I Eleusis 489 with notes). The remains of the Imperial titulature indicate a date between 186 AD and Commodus’ death at the end of 192 AD (D. Kienast, W. Eck, M. Heil, Römische Kaisertabelle⁶, 2017, 140-43).
