[1] This is one of five kioniskoi from the Kerameikos funerary enclosure (peribolos) of the family of Philon of Phaleron, Soso’s father (see IG II² 7627 with notes). The peribolos also contains a kioniskos for Soso’s daughter, Mikkion, who married Soso’s nephew, Philon (IG II² 7266-7267). There is only one other example of the name Soso at Athens, held by a metic (Byrne, Athenian Onomasticon). On kioniskoi, see AIUK 3 (Fitzwilliam), no. 7, with notes.
