[1] This is an altar of Pentelic marble, which was found outside the church of Prophitis Ilias in Kephisia. S.N. Dragoumes (Αρχαιολογική Εφημερίς, 1895, 186) dated it to the time of Emperor Hadrian based on the letter forms. A similar altar for Selene (IG II³ 4 1816) was found nearby. Both probably derive from the villa of Herodes Atticus at Kephisia (K. Takeuchi, ZPE 224, 2022, 185-188; cf. J. Tobin, Herodes Attikos and the City of Athens, 1997, chapter 5 and IG II³ 4 1877 with notes).
