[1] Pruener and Peek (in notes to IG II³) suggest restoring l. 2 as Δελφ[ικῷ θεῷ θέτο] "he placed it for the Delphic god” (i.e. Apollo).

The dedicator, whose name means ‘Emerald’, is not otherwise known. Heralds competed at the Panhellenic games, so perhaps the end of l. 2 would have commemorated a victory at the Pythian Games at Delphi. The whole dedication is in iambic trimeters. Curbera in IG II³ suggests that the reference to health indicates that it was originally dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665), but it was not found very nearby and the text does not refer to Asklepios directly. Pruener and Peek's restoration would make it a dedication to Apollo. On top there is a round cutting on the left-hand side and a long transverse cutting, perhaps for inserting a statue and a naiskos. There are traces of another round cutting towards the back.
