Dedication to Asklepios, Hygieia, and all other gods and goddesses by Caecilius Boulon

IG II³ 4 811 Date: ca. 100 AD

To Asklepios and Hygieia and all the other gods and goddesses, in accordance with a dream, Caecilius (5) named Boulon son of Moiragenes of Phyle (dedicated this) ^[1] uninscribed space when the temple attendant (zakoreuontos) was Marcus Curtius Rufus of Hagnous.^[2]

[1] This statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). The dedicator might be identified with the Boulon who was choregos around 94 AD (IG II³ 4, 559, l. 7) and secretary in 96/7 AD (Agora XV 312, l. 44). Boulon’s other name, Caecilius, implies Roman citizenship, but is not given as part of the normal naming formula for Roman citizens (which is used by the temple attendant in ll. 7-9) and none of his descendants appear as Roman citizens.
