Dedication to Asklepios by a father on behalf of his children

IG II³ 4 730 Date: ca. 350-300 BC

Soterides, having vowed this on behalf of his little children, dedicated it to Asklepios uninscribed space (5) in the priesthood of Ktesikles of Hagnous^V.^[1]

[1] This tall narrow statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis. The dedicator is not identifiable. Ktesikles is recorded in an inventory of dedications in the Asklepieion (IG II³ 1, 898, ll. 93, 106). His son Theopompos dedicated IG II³ 4, 1352 to Hermes and his daughter Nikarete's gravestone is IG II² 5275. All of these connections suggest that his priesthood fell in the second half of the fourth century BC. On the Asklepieion and its inscriptions, see IG II³ 4, 665.
