-s son of Polyeuktos (?) of -, having won the ephebic torch-race of the pareutaktoi, (dedicated this) to Apollo, (5) in the gymnasiarchy of Apolexis son of Apellikon of Oion.^[1]

[1] On the ephebic dedications of the Hellenistic period see IG II³ 4, 357 with n. 1. The base has a cutting in the top for insertion of a dedicatory torch, and would have been fixed to a wall; cf. IG II³ 4, 375 and texts referenced there. Its findspot suggests that it was dedicated in the Lykeion, cf. IG II³ 4, 397, 398, with notes. On the pareutaktoi and the gymnasiarchy cf. IG II³ 4, 396. The gymnasiarch here is also attested as archon, ca. 20 BC, cf. IG II³ 4, 120 (Schmalz, who would date this inscription to shortly after the archonship).
