[1] The inscription was last seen by Ludwig Ross at Kato Vraona (i.e. Brauron), in 1832-1843, along with IG I³ 984, and was published by Kirchner in a note to IG II² 3205 (where the dedicators also appear). It is a dedication to Herakles made by two brothers, Hypsimos and Diognetos, sons of Hypsimos, members of a wealthy family of the deme Hybadai (Davies, APF pp. 520-1). According to Kirchner, followed by Davies and Byrne (Athenian Onomasticon), Diognetos made another joint dedication with his son Hypsimos in the mid-4th century (IG II³ 4, 231). Löhr, Familienweihungen 109 (p. 94) questions this identification due to the impossibility of dating this inscription.

The original location of the dedication is unknown, but, since the nearest known shrine of Herakles is near Spata, which is quite far away, Davies supposes that there was another one near Kato Vraona.
