[1] Textual note: In l. 2, Clinton, Sacred Officials, 1974, suggests the supplement ἀρχιερεὺς διὰ βί]ου ("high priest for life]); less reasonably in I Eleusis 341 he proposes ἱερεὺς τοῦ Δήμ]ου (priest of the People]); such a priesthood is not otherwise attested at Athens.

This architrave block derives from some kind of structure dedicated by Kleo, priestess of Demeter and Kore from ca. 15 AD into the 60s AD (see I Eleusis 334 with notes), and another priest to the personification of the emperor's justice (Greek Sebaste Dikaiosyne, Latin Iustitia Augusta) and the Athenian People, perhaps with Demeter and Kore. The block was found at Eleusis, built into a house near the Greater Propylaia, so the structure was presumably somewhere in this area. This inscription is the only attestation of this cult at Athens, which was established at Rome in AD 13, perhaps in connection with Tiberius' triumph for his victory in the Greater Dalmatian War and the campaigns in Germany after the Battle of Teutoberg Forest (J. B. Lott, ZPE 113, 1996, 263-70). Tiberius depicted the goddess on coinage issued in 22/23 AD (RIC I² Tiberius 46). Cf. IG II² 3240, an altar dedicated to Augustan Health.
