In the archonship of Diomedon (248/7), in the tenth prytany, of [[Demetrias]]II,[2] (5) for which Phoryskides son of Aristomenes of LeukonoionVI was secretary. On the intercalated old and new day (henei kai neai embolimōi) of Elaphebolion, the second of the prytany. Assembly. Of the presiding committee Kallistratos son of Telesinos of Erchia was putting to the vote and his fellow presiding committee members. The People decided.[3] (10) Theophemos son of Timokles of Marathon proposed: in order that, with the money (chrēmatōn) supplied (poristhentōn), the treasurer can allocate what is needed so that for the time remaining in the year the harvest from the land may be gathered in safety, for good fortune, the Council shall decide: that the presiding committee (proedrous) allotted to preside for the coming Assembly (15) shall put the matter on the agenda and submit the opinion of the Council that it seems good to the Council that those citizens and others who reside in the city who wish to make a contribution for the preservation (sōtērian) of the city and the protection (phulakēn) of the countryside should register with the People or with the Council or through the generals by Mounichion;[4] (20) that no-one be allowed to contribute more than 200 drachmas or less than 50; and the contributors shall be praised and honoured, both collectively and individually, by the People according to what each of them deserves; and the secretary of the People shall inscribe this decree and the names of the contributors on a stone stele (25) and stand it in the Agora in order that the love of honour (philotimia) of those willing to be benefactors of the People may be seen by all; and the administrator (ton epi tēi dioikēsei) shall allocate the expenditure accrued for the stele and the inscription of the names; and this decree, since it concerns the supply (porou) of military funds (stratiōtikōn), shall be entirely for the (30) protection of the countryside.
