Transliterations on Places on

[1] Comparison with Tit. Calymnii 230, suggests that this inscription was an invocation to God for the protection of the builder of the church, reading something like “Lord, help your slave, the builder of the (church of) Saint Andreas.” This seems to refer to the three-aisled basilica built in the mid-6th century AD on the site of the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis, where this inscription was found. This basilica was destroyed and rebuilt as a result of the Slavic Sack of Athens in the 580s AD, rebuilt twice more, and possibly replaced by an Arab mosque in the 10th or 11th centuries (S.
