[1] This herm served as a milestone, part of a set which probably date to the 220s or 230s AD (see I Eleusis 647 with notes). It bears two inscriptions, which are shown to be distinct by different lettering. The first attributes the stone to Diocletian and Maximian, who were co-emperors 286-305 AD (see IG II² 5, 13265 with notes). IG II² 5, 13297 is another milestone of the same emperors. The second inscription probably belongs to the original use. On milestones, see IG II² 5, 13294 with notes. The herm’s head is lost.
