[1] This is one of a set of bases with Latin inscriptions erected in the Roman Agora for the emperor Constantine and his family (see IG II² 5, 13269 with notes; on the Roman Agora generally, see IG II³ 4, 12). The name of the honorand is totally lost and it is possible that this fragment is actually part of IG II² 5, 13270. Possible honorands include Constantine’s second son Constantius II (r. 337-361), his third son Constans (r. 340-350), his nephew Dalmatius (Caesar, 335-337), or his younger nephew Hannibalianus.
