[1] Flavia Habroia belonged to the Kylloi family of Hypata, the leading family of the Thessalian League from the mid-first century BC onwards (on the family, see N. Sekunda ZPE 118, 1997, pp 207-226). Her son, Marcus Ulpius Eubiotos Leuros was honoured for benefactions to the Athenians ca. 230 (see SEG 30.82 with notes). This statue may have been erected in that context (cf. IG II² 3695). However, her family had a pre-existing relationship with Athens - her grandfather, Titus Flavius Kyllos, had been archon of the Panhellenes 154-157 AD (Agora XVIII 402) - so she may be honoured here for some benefaction made in her own right. "Most brilliant consular" translates the Latin status designation clarissima consularis, which indicates that her father or husband had held the consulship (presumably as suffect consul - neither is otherwise attested in the role).
