[1] The reference to healing suggests that this statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). Gaius Pinarius was perhaps the doctor who healed Euneikos. It is highly unusual for him, rather than the god, to be presented as the dedicatee. The date is based on letter forms and the fact that Pinarius has no cognomen (IG II³).
