[1] This fragment comes from the upper right hand corner of a plaque that would have been attached to the front of the base for a statue of the emperor Trajan (r. 98-117 AD). It was found built into a modern house above the Library of Pantainos in the southeastern corner of the Agora. Fragments of a statue found nearby may be associated (Ag. S 2431, 2501-2502, 2504; S. Dillon, in D. Damaskos, P. Karanastasi, and T. Stefanidou-Tiverou, Πλατική στη ρωμαϊκή Ελλάδα, 2022, 73-84). On Trajan and the shrine for him located within this building, see SEG 60.223 with notes.
