(This statue of) Antiochos son of Menandros of Melite, leader of the friendly society (archeranistēn) of the Asklepiastai (5) (was erected by) his own father and his mother Hagne daughter of Neikon of Marathon with the association of the Asklepiastai.^[1] uninscribed space

[1] This base was found at Menidi, the site of ancient Acharnai, where a scholiast mentions that there was an Asklepieion (Schol. in Aristoph. Wealth 621). On “friendly societies” (eranistai), associations formed on the basis of financial contributions from members, see Agora XIX H84 with note. Antiochos is also attested as an ephebic gymnasiarch for 108/9 (AIUK 11 (Ashmolean), no. 6, l. 12) and is likely to have still been a fairly young man when this base was erected, since both of his parents were still living.
