In the trainership (paidotribountos) of Ariston, when Dositheos son of Herakleides of Pambotadai was superintendent (kosmēteuontos), when Menodoros (son of Menodoros) of Alopeke (5) was leader (hēgemoneuontos), when Isigenes of Alopeke was weapons trainer (hoplomachountos), the joint recipients of crowns (sunstephanoi) dedicated (this): Metrodoros son of – , Sozon son of Sozon, (10) – son of -genes.^[1]

[1] This inscription is dated by relation to the ephebic catalogue, IG II² 2024, in which the same superintendent (kosmetes), hegemon (on this title cf. IG II³ 4, 424), and weapons trainer (hoplomachos) are listed, under the archonship of the emperor Hadrian (111/2 AD: cf. Byrne, Roman Citizens 25-26). The only difference is that in that catalogue Ariston and Demetrios are joint trainers (ll. 123-24), whereas here Ariston is named alone (l. 1). Follet, Athènes 29, cf. 202, would identify Sozon (l. 9) with Sozon the ephebe in IG II³ 4, 405, l. 7. What exactly these ephebes had been crowned for is not clear.
