[1] This fragmentary list of pairs of men, listed under the name of the demarch under whom they held office and datable only approximately by letter forms and orthography, is from Thorikos in the south-east of the Attic peninsula. The record was updated year by year (the last entry, ll. 6-8, is in a different script). Since the thickness of the stele is the same as the deme decree of the late 5th cent. BC, SEG 40.128, and it was found in the same area of the theatre, it has been supposed that it contains a continuation of the inscribed record of choregoi mandated by that decree. That is plausible, though some caution is in order given the lack of explicit evidence that the men were choregoi rather than holders of some other deme office, and that SEG 40.128 and SEG 34.107 imply that there were three choregoi a year at that time, not two.
