[1] This statue base was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). It was probably dedicated by parents in connection with an illness suffered by their son. The priest might be Diokles of Kephisia (cf. IG II² 1046; Aleshire, Asklepios at Athens, 205), but there are many other possibilities.
