[1] This is a now-lost fourth-century choregic dedication, commemorating a victory in the dithyrambic competition at the City Dionysia (cf. IG II³ 4, 460 with notes). Given that Timodemos is a common name in Classical Athens, the sponsor cannot be identified with certainty: he might be Timodemos the liturgist in a naval inscription (IG II² 1613, l. 201 from 353/2 BC) or a banker of that name (Dem. 36.29, 50, cf. Davies, APF 13674).
