[1] This is a fragment of a choregic dedication commemorating a victory in the dithyrambic competition at the City Dionysia (cf. IG II³ 4, 460 with notes). The ascription to the City Dionysia rather than the Thargelia (cf. IG II³ 4, 475) is implied by the singular verbal form ‘was victorious’, most likely indicating that there was a single victorious tribe (it would not seem in this case that it could refer to the victorious choregos, named in l. 1).
