[1] On dedications by gymnasiarchs see IG II³ 4, 426, with notes. This is not a victory dedication by a single gymnasiarch, but appears to commemorate honours awarded to a group of (four?) gymnasiarchs, perhaps chosen to perform a particular role or function. The father and mother of Charinos (l. 4) are most likely commemorated on the funerary monument, IG II² 6834, cf. Davies, APF p. 573.
