. . . . . . for good fortune, the Council shall decide: that [the presiding committee (proedrous) allotted] to preside shall bring him before the People and submit the opinion of the Council to the People, that it seems (5) good to the Council to praise . . . of - and to crown him with a gold crown according to the law for his love of honour (philotimias) and the good will that he continues to have for the Athenian People; and he shall be Athenian, and his descendants, and shall enrol in the tribe and deme and phratry (10) that he wishes except those the laws forbid; and the prytany shall put the vote at the next Assembly; and the court presidents (thesmothetas) shall submit to the court for him the scrutiny (dokimasian) of his citizenship according to the law; and in order that there may be a memorial (hupomnēma) [of the award given] (15) [by the] People, [the secretary of the] People shall inscribe [this decree] [on a stone stele] . . . . . .
