[... to those despatched] by the People, always saying and doing what is in the interests of the People, and at every opportunity he has been [mindful of the city], being of service to those who requested it and demonstrating both the [love of honour (philotimian) and] the (5) good will that he has for the city; in order therefore that the People may be seen to give thanks worthy of the benefactions [it receives], for good fortune, the Council shall decide: that the presiding committee (proedrous) allotted to preside in the People at the next Assembly . . .
