[1] This kioniskos was found on a property bordering the west side of the Kerameikos site. The names Ktesarchos and Kalliphanes appear several times as father and son pairs in the deme Phlya, suggesting that they are family names that recurred throughout generations. This Ktesarchos may be the same man listed in a prytany inscription ca. 30 BC (SEG 28.95, l. 27) and perhaps is also the father of an adopted son, Kalliphanes, named after his adopted paternal grandfather, who died a youth (IG II² 7688). Several monuments of this family may have originated from the same funerary peribolos, since a number have been found around the Kerameikos site (see IG II² 7693).
