[1] This is one of five kioniskoi from the Kerameikos funerary enclosure (peribolos) of the family of Demo’s father, Philon of Phaleron (see IG II² 7627 with notes). This grave marker was not found in situ but was discovered in the area in the 19^th century. On kioniskoi, see AIUK 3 (Fitzwilliam), no. 7, with notes.
