[1] This fragment derives from a statue base for a Roman emperor, which once stood at Eleusis. The form of the titulature suggests Marcus Aurelius (r. 161-180 AD), in which case the title ‘Germanicus’ would indicate a date after 172 AD (on Marcus Aurelius and Athens see IG II² 3410 with notes). Trajan (r. 98-117 AD) is also possible, but he is not otherwise attested at Eleusis.
