[1] This is a work of Tracy’s “Cutter of IG II² 788”, ca. 260-ca. 235 BC (for the dates see Tracy, Athens and Macedon, 128-49, and Horos 26-31, 2014-2019, 45). The date, subject matter, and fact that [Philok]omos (the honorand?) is given a demotic, argue in favour of this being a decree involving soldiers stationed at Eleusis rather than of, or solely of, the deme Eleusis. For other joint decrees of the deme Eleusis and soldiers stationed there see I Eleusis 95, with notes. [Philok]omos may be grandson of the Philokomos of Eleusis who sponsored the arrangements for leasing quarries recorded in I Eleusis 85, of 332/1 BC (Clinton).
